פִּיד

פִּידm. (פדר; cmp. פְּדַע) 1) picking of chickens. Ab. Zar.4a (ref. to פידו, Job 30:24) אני נפרע מהן כפ׳ של תרנגולת I will collect from them (punish them) as the chicken picks (in small instalments); ib. אפי׳ אין ישראל … מעט כפ׳ של תרנגוליןוכ׳ even if Israel do but small good deeds, as the picking of chickens in the dunghill, I will combine them into one large sum; Yalk. Job 918. 2) (b. h.) (= שֶׁבֶר) misfortune. Pesik.
